But even though the technology was advanced, the concept of drones still held a degree of danger that never left. While the Hammer Drones have yet to reappear in the MCU, the concept behind them had merits and has since evolved through The Infinity Saga. Still, even though the drones haven't returned, the technology has continued in surprising ways, thanks to Tony. If so, it could offer an opportunity for the drones to return in some capacity, even if only as a stepping stone to something greater. But the lack of drones has since seemed like a missed opportunity as the military was still contracting Hammer Industries, which may imply that they have the plans. Since being destroyed in Iron Man 2, the drones weren't seen again as Justin Hammer was arrested and his business seemingly destroyed. Though Hammer felt these suits were a downgrade from armor, they may be even more capable than a suit. ![]() They could also fly and were as strong and versatile as Iron Man's armor. There were drones made for each branch of the American military with various weapons, including massive guns, surface-to-air missiles and machine guns on the forearm. To Hammer, he simply stated, "drone better" and failed to elaborate further. Initially meant to be suits of armor to rival the Iron Man armor, Vanko chose to create drones that did his bidding as a means to enact his plan of killing Tony. ![]()
